Foster a culture where worker support one another
Foster a culture of helping and notifying each other and tell leaders to avoid trying to do everything on their own — a leader should trust their team members to handle their tasks and assist when others are overwhelmed. This means leaders should promote a culture where workers care for each other, and the leader lets their team care for them.
Communicate and prioritize
Leaders should be able to prioritize what efforts are essential and what tasks they can drop when they face big deadlines or unforeseen challenges to prevent workers from feeling constantly overwhelmed and overworked.
It's difficult to decide what to prioritize when you have too many things to do. A leader has an important role in making sure that we're rejecting those things that don't match our priorities and concentrating on things that are most important. If a team knows what they need to prioritize, they're going to be less stressed.
And a team that is not weighed down by stress and panic is more likely to be productive.
Stay calm
When it comes to stress, we advise leaders that their team is observing how they respond, especially when things go wrong. While it's not easy, leaders need to stay calm. The most helpful thing we can do is just pause and really evaluate the situation. That doesn't mean we ignore our emotions in the situation, but we can recognize and still communicate that we are going to overcome it together.
Manage what is possible
Leaders can avoid stress and anxiety by focusing on what they can control, they cannot control external factors that affect their team and business, but they can control how they react. They can make a [circle] diagram and put the things they can control and act on in the centre. Then they can put the things they can influence a bit further out. Then they can put the things they cannot control outside. This can help them focus and prioritize their efforts."
Achieve harmony between work and life
I needed more balance in my life. And that meant getting help when I needed it and accepting that we can't do everything at once." We try to split work and personal life but need to remember that they are both part of us.
